I may be nuts, but I smell a conspiracy. And custard.

So over the weekend I read this from io9 that pistachios are capable of self-heating and bursting into flames if they aren’t handled correctly. Then Carla pointed out this tweet from the DIsney Food Blog that pistachio creme brulee isn’t available at one of the Animal Kingdom Lodge restaurants anymore.  Coincidence?

I think not.

Think about it for a minute: for creme brulee to be creme brulee it has to be heated to form that wonderful shell on top. Otherwise, it’s just custard,  Pistachios are capable of self-heating. Has Disney been experimenting with self-heating creme brulee?  Have they unleashed forces of nature that are best left alone? Have things gone horriby wrong?

We may never know.

But we are eating at Jiko in a couple of weeks, so I’ll ask.
